RISE Academy
Overview
R.I.S.E. (Recent Immigrant Support and Engagement) Academy welcomes newly-arrived immigrant students and provides them with a sheltered space that supports their transition into the American high school education system. RISE Academy provides all students:
- Rigor, with a focus on planning and implementing differentiated and scaffolded curriculum
- Inclusion, Acculturation, and Access, with a focus on classrooms and interactions with students of diverse skill sets and cultural backgrounds
- Socio-emotional Support, with a focus on providing wraparound service personnel such as case managers and social workers
- English Language Development, with a focus on strengthening both academic and social English language skills
Career Technical Education
RISE students take two career preparation courses in Socially Beneficial Business Management where they learn the principles of business management within a business structure, are exposed to current workplace technologies, and practice real-world professional communication skills.
Scholars are prepared for their next steps, whether that be a business degree or entering the world of work, with an understanding of how they can positively impact their communities.
